TV Harrison Blue Plaque & More…

Busy few days back in the constituency following the return of Parliament on Monday.

Thanks to all the residents who came to my surgeries in Drighlington and New Farnley. Lots for my team and I to action as a result and we'll come back to you this coming week.

I had the privilege of meeting with Alliance Healthcare workers on the Millshaw Park estate, near the White Rose Business Park. We covered challenges facing the sector and their biggest customers, community pharmacies. More to come on this soon.

Huge congratulations to all the children in Drighlington who completed the reading challenge over summer. Reading is so important, it's the foundation on which everything else is built. Very pleased to award the children their certificates and medals alongside the brilliant local author, Callum L Gamble at Drighlington Community Library on Saturday.

In Wortley, the community celebrated the unveiling of a Blue Plaque following the T.V Harrison Action Group's campaign to save the ground. It was wonderful to see so many people there, including special guests, Paul Reaney, Stuart McCall and Noel Whelan. This was only possible thanks to the efforts of the entire community.

As I said in my speech, I've had sleepless nights over the last 3 years in trying to help find a solution to this, both as a councillor and now as an MP. I fulfilled the promise I made in 2022 to both the action group and residents, to help their campaign save the ground and I'm so pleased that Leeds United are putting this historic investment into Leeds South West & Morley.

We're still finalising some of the smaller details of the deal. I'm grateful to both Leeds School Sports Association and Leeds United for working with us, at speed, to conclude this with Leeds City Council. I'll report back when this is done.
