Visit To Morley Fire Station

One of the highlights of the summer recess was spending time with the Morley Blue Watch Team at Morley Fire Station.

Our firefighters have been recognised as some of the top performers in the region and it was clear to see why during my time with them.

We didn't just talk about their work, I saw it first-hand as we left the station at great speed to respond to an incident on the motorway. I certainly won't forget just how quickly and professionally they were able to respond when called upon. Thankfully everyone was fine with huge thanks to all of our excellent emergency services.

I also saw the dedication that goes into preparing for this job, with a training exercise that saw the team remove the roof of a car in order to get access to a trapped passenger.

I look forward to celebrating their work in Parliament and retuning to finish our conversations about their key priorities for the next three years. These include tackling emerging risks like lithium-ion batteries, to strengthening prevention and protection measures.
